Ian Lightfoot, the 16 year old elf, has just celebrated his coming of age. Living with his mom, Laurel and brother, Barley, he has always lacked self-confidence and is the total opposite of his older brother who's a historical fanatic on the New Mushroomton's past. Their deceased father left something for them, a magical staff with a rare gem for a 'visitation spell'. Ian, with low self confidence, casted the spell accidentally but ends up with the bottom part of their father. Thus, they go to search the other gem within 24 hours to bring back the father from their memories with the combination of the opposing siblings. (Youtube Trailer)
MY STORY
I have wanted to watch this since 3 weeks ago, when the trailer played before watching #TemanTapiMenikah and due to my last school exams, I only have the time to watch it on Friday the 13th. My friend had reviewed this on the Instagram account too and I guessed now I know the reason why she gave such a high rating for the animation. Here's my story.
WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE MOVIE
What intrigues me the most out of the 2-minute trailer is the story and how comedically it gets. When watching the movie, these prove to be right and I fell in love instantly with Pixar's animation and how real it gets through the film they've made all these years and maybe if I'm not that detailed, if you give me a scene with their cinematography on the background, I might mistakenly think that it comes from a real film and not an animation.
The story is quite normal and sometimes I may be able to predict things happening but the way their comedy resonates through the movie is such an enjoyment that I find myself not looking at the phone for almost 2 hours as I don't fall into boredom and even laugh on almost every scene. Great shout out to the writing team for being able to make animations as real as possible with how it deals with every day life and topics that are relatable to everyone, especially about self-conscience.
As a Pixar film being distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, there aren't much songs in this animation but the music still sounds when they want to build tension on scenes and they succeed in doing so. I almost cried during the ending part because of the music and how beautiful the scene looks like when watching this. They're able to build the emotion, both visually and auditory.
The voice actors are able to boost the characters they're playing and how the audiences are able to feel the emotions portrayed is another positive point for this film. Keep in mind that I hadn't known that Tom Holland and Chris Pratt plays the two main characters and just knew minutes before watching the movie.
In general, this movie is definitely a must-watch and is now in the list of 'Agnes's Favourite Movies' for being an animation this great with such pleasing aesthetics. Please keep in mind too to wear masks when you're sick and try to call the help center if you're feeling symptoms of COVID-19. Eat lots of clean food and vitamins. Keep healthy so that you won't miss watching the movie.
